I have had the most amazing birthday morning this morning. I can't believe how lucky I am to be so fussed over by my gorgeous little family. I had a pile of presents to open first thing, and then after pilates, I came home to discover an outdoor treasure hunt! I actually cried I was so touched, when I saw what Paula and Jesse had made for me. This pic is of a piece of art Paula made for me. She took photos of all the plants in my garden, my harvest and everything, and combined them in this amazing collage which she glued onto a big board of plywood. I am gobsmacked. The photo I took doesn't quite do it justice because some of the colours faded. But still, you can see what a beautiful piece of art it is. I love the enormous bee with its pollen, the juxtaposition of sizes of everything, the bounty of harvest.. Not only does it capture this year in my garden and the many plants I've grown for the first time (my first ever watermelon is swelling in the top right corner, my first nasturtium flower in the bottom centre)... but it also shows Paula's sweet appreciation for all that I've grown/made/fed us with. Her lovely words, "Thank you for feeding us, body and soul." refer to the food grown for our bodies, but also the beautiful space the garden is, that feeds our souls. It's so lovely to be appreciated. This art captures all that is dear to my heart and I feel so lucky!
