I sewed these lovely cushion covers with fabric from Memi Designs. I bumped into Melanie, who screen prints the fabric and sells gorgeous homewares made from this and other delightful prints, at the Rose Street Arts Market ages ago. Strangely enough, she remembered me from an article in Renew Magazine about my house! When I asked her if she'd sell me the fabric, she explained she doesn't normally sell the fabric by itself - just as the goodies she sews.
But then she suggested we could do a swap - I could show her my house in exchange! Unfortunately though, we haven't been able to work out a time when we're both free and in Melbourne to do the house tour, and I was getting so desperate for her fabric I offered her a copy of my book, The Grimstones - An Artist's Journal, instead.
Lucky for me she took me up on this, and a few days later, I got the package of exquisite fabric in the mail. Hooray! I couldn't wait to get started. I used almost all of it on these cushions for our couch. But I've a few patches left which will make their way into future projects.
