About Asphyxia

Food and Nutrition

  • Traditional Foods
My health has dramatically improved after changing my diet for a more traditional way of eating, as advised by Sally Fallon.
  • Food Flower Poster
Forget the food pyramid! It was developed by the agricultural industry, not by nutritionists. Instead, print this Food Flower poster, which shows a visual guide to choosing nutritious and satisfying traditional foods.
  • Sourdough bread Recipes
I make delicious sourdough bread in my bread machine - recipes and tips here.
  • Raw Food
Should we be eating a diet of 100% raw food? Here's what I found by way of "scientific proof".
  • Raw garlic to cure colds & flu
If you feel a cold or flu coming on, eat a whole clove of raw garlic, three times a day - it works miracles.

Dear Asphyxia, I am sending big positive vibes to your mum, your dad, and your family, you have obviously taken on lots of wonderful qualities from your parents. How strong your mum is, and how determined your dad is. Thank you for sharing this valuable information, I am the same age as your mum, and have friends who have been through Chemo for breast cancer. You would think that the breast cancer section of the hospital would have a special cupboard to store the ice for people who want to use this method, instead your dad has to run back and forth, it seems so wrong. I bet your mum loves your painting of her , it's such a caring, thoughtful thing for you to make for her. You must be worrying about her all the time, so making your gorgeous felted shoes will give you some distraction.
love and thoughts, to you and your family, most especially your dear mum.
Madeleine Kennedy.

Dear Madeleine,

Thank you so much for all your gorgeous comments - you are very generous. I agree, the hospital should be HELPING my parents, not hindering them. And they should be making this info available for everyone who has chemo, so they can choose if they want to try the ice treatment. I'm so glad you are going to share this with your friends.. let's hope someone else can keep their hair if they feel it's worthwhile.

Love Asphyxia

Hi Asphyxia,

I initially "met" you in Grass Roots, I think and occasionally look in at your blog.

The other day I read "Eating your Harvest" and thought I should thank you for getting me to start harvesting and using it, even just one of something.

Then this morning, I open the paper and there you are again!

So just wanted to touch base and thankyou for your sharing of your lifestyle and thoughts.

Hope your mum does well and keeps that hair to go grey when she's 70.

Good luck ,Great post, love you! Thanks for the info it had cleared out too many things in my mind. Your recommendations are really good.

Latasha, I'm so sorry to hear you have cancer. Best of luck for your fight with it, and may you keep all your hair! The ice sounds painful but it will be worth it! Goodluck and my thoughts are with you....
