About Asphyxia

Food and Nutrition

  • Traditional Foods
My health has dramatically improved after changing my diet for a more traditional way of eating, as advised by Sally Fallon.
  • Food Flower Poster
Forget the food pyramid! It was developed by the agricultural industry, not by nutritionists. Instead, print this Food Flower poster, which shows a visual guide to choosing nutritious and satisfying traditional foods.
  • Sourdough bread Recipes
I make delicious sourdough bread in my bread machine - recipes and tips here.
  • Raw Food
Should we be eating a diet of 100% raw food? Here's what I found by way of "scientific proof".
  • Raw garlic to cure colds & flu
If you feel a cold or flu coming on, eat a whole clove of raw garlic, three times a day - it works miracles.

Thanks and more thanks for a wonderful hour cruising around your art and musings. Loved it!
I learnt a wonderful thing to do when you are out walking.....still the mind a bit and then with your arms open and wide say, 'I am open to the abundance that life offers'.
It gives a sense of there is enough for everyone and that there is enough right now. A very rich feeling.
Take care,
Jo (living in the middle of central queensland, homeschooling and exploring creeks)

Thanks Jo.. and what a lovely idea! Will definitely give it a go. Happy homeschooling and creek exploring :) - Asphyxia

Thanks for a burst of refreshment on these last posts: the book review (it sounds a very wise read)
the home - made gifts and the wonderful candles.
Do show us your results with the left over wax and avocado skins!!
Love stopping by here, Fixie.
Take care,
Hazelnut / Alex
PS I made my Mum a jar of 100 thankyous's'before she died, for a present...I was so glad I did.
She talked about these little cards a lot with me and with her carers, remembering incidents from the past etc

Hazelnut, your jar of thankyous sounds gorgeous. What a beautiful idea for a present for a relative. I'm definitely adding that one to my list. And so glad you are enjoying my posts - the candle results one is coming up in a couple of days, I promise!

Enough is a great book. I read it couple of years ago. Thanks for the reminder, and the summary. Enough information is my biggy. Have you read "Your money or your life"? It was a huge life-changer for my husband and I. It also focusses on enoughness, although from a financial perspective. There are obvious spin-offs once you realise you don't need more money: more time, more family, more community, more peace. It freed me up to pursue permaculture and homeschooling.
Regards
Danielle

Ooh I haven't read Your Money Or Your Life. I must add it to my list of books to read. Though I feel I've got a good grip on the money thing at the moment. Like you Enough Information is my biggie.. and also learning to practise gratitude...
