There are so many ways to interpret this painting and I can't even decide how *I* want to interpret it! But I love the connection between the two birds, even though they are so different - small and large, dark and light. I also love the welcome, from the big bird to the little one. It makes me think of saying hello to a baby, newly arrived in the world. Anyway, I'm curious to know how you see this painting? What does it mean to you?
If you'd like it, it's here in my shop
I like how the little bird stands very upright, to me conveying self-confidence and joy in being who s/he is (rather than arrogance). The big bird has a humility about him/her, and a genuineness of interest in acknowledging the little bird (rather than bullying it). I think it's a blueprint of how things could be - and are sometimes (but not usually in mainstream society). Kindness is, of course, contagious... So that's what I thought looking at this piece. Or is it a Rorscharch test? ;-) In which case what I said might tell you more about me than what the artist tried to convey! :-)
